Adopt Hugo B

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born in April 2024 Gender: male Neutered: yes Character: very friendly, open, gentle, cuddly, playful, compatible with other animals Size: approximately 60 cm at the shelter since: June 2024 Relatives: Mother Klara (Siblings Levi & Freya - already adopted) Hello to all of you out there! I am the wonderful Hugo, a very gentle and charming soul looking for my forever family. I am described as a loving calm presence. Snuggling with you humans is not only balm for my soul, but also for yours. I radiate such calmness that during our snuggling sessions we will forget the world around us. My two siblings and I were born on the street, where our mother lovingly took care of us. Since we could not at all assess the danger posed by cars due to our age and were constantly on the busy road playing, it was decided to bring us to the shelter. What a relief - because that could have ended badly. In the shelter I now live in the large run with many other dogs - and what can I say: I get along well with everyone! I am very social, well-mannered and show myself open and friendly even to visitors. Whether two- or four-legged - I just enjoy company and new encounters. I have now become a "big" guy and ready to start my new life alone. Of course I've also thought about what I wish for my future home: a soft bed to rest, a full food bowl and maybe some nice toys to play and have fun. Above all, I wish for loving, patient people who discover the world with me, take many beautiful walks and cuddle a lot with me. I am ready for the big adventure - and I'm just waiting for you... If you are interested in Hugo, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Hugo is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. Furthermore, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted for dogs over 12 months before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis. Heike B. has taken on the sponsorship of Hugo and thus ensures a full bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!. Some symptoms here are age-related. Gets along with other dogs.

Steckbrief Alter: ca. im April 2024 geboren Geschlecht: männlich Kastriert: ja Charakter: sehr freundlich, aufgeschlossen, sanft, verschmust, verspielt, verträglich mit Artgenossen Größe: ca. 60 cm Im Shelter seit: Juni 2024 Verwandte: Mama Klara (Geschwister Levi & Freya – bereits ausgereist) Hallo an euch alle da draußen!

About Hugo B

What life with Hugo B looks like

Hugo B is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hugo B, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hugo B?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hugo B on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hugo B if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hugo B already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hugo B isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hugo B and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
