Private photos of San: Text and pictures from past times in Romania: Profile Age: approximately born in May 2025. Gender: female. Neutered: no Character: very friendly, playful like a puppy Size: growing, remaining small In shelter since: May 2025 Relatives: Siblings Lula R, Ruby W, Sully, Kiko R & Coby Sometimes words fail us - and sometimes we have to tell what happened anyway. Because looking away changes nothing. Right in the middle of a remote forest area in Romania - no road, no house, no person in sight. There was a tied-up bag. Inside: 14 tiny puppies. Alive, discarded. Thrown away like trash. We from the German team, who was on site at the time, found them only by an incredible coincidence. A wrong turn, a short stop to feed other strays - a moment that saved lives. Not all of the little ones made it. Some died - but not alone. Rather, protected, in warm arms, lovingly held by our colleagues who did everything they could. And then there is San. A small, delicate soul. Curious, awake, full of hope. You can recognize her by her sweet white "socks" - as if she had dressed up for a better life. She looks into the world with a clear, alert gaze, ready to finally get to know it. San was lovingly cared for, has had her first vaccinations, has moved into a small kennel with a cozy dog bed - but this is not her home. It is only a safe place on the way to it. She will remain small, a little girl dog with a big heart. What she is looking for is not much - and yet everything: A home. Warmth. Security. Love. In August, San will be able to leave. And we really hope she doesn't have to wait any longer than she already has. If you want to show her that the world can also be good - then give her your heart. Give San the home she never had, but deserves so much. She is waiting for her chance ...

About San

What life with San looks like

San is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting San, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about San?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw San on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt San if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is San already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if San isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know San and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
