Hundemama

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Teresa - a mother dog - seeks a compassionate home - female, born circa 2022, SH approximately 40-45 cm, spayed, vaccinated, chipped. - Still waiting in Romania - Mama Teresa and her 5 puppies were found in an old abandoned house in Romania. Teresa had a chain around her neck and had apparently retreated to this demolition house to give birth. Whether she was chased away from her owner's farm or freed herself, we do not know. Mama Teresa was very thin and our animal rescuers began feeding her and planned to take the whole family to their shelter. But at that time there were many cases of illness in the shelter and it was safer for the puppies to stay at their old place initially. They were vaccinated and dewormed, but when the 2nd vaccination was due, two of the puppies were missing. They could not be found. Maybe someone took pity on them. Mama Teresa and her remaining children Timmi, Talina and Tracy (see separate ads and www.sos-strassentiere.de) moved to the shelter shortly afterwards. Of course, this was a big change for everyone and the small family seemed quite uncertain. They trust their lifesavers, let them pet them and take them in their arms. They still meet strangers with skepticism and keep their distance. But they make small progress from day to day. Mama Teresa is uncertain, but not frightened. However, she is (still) not a dog that approaches strangers and jumps up at them in joy. For the dear Teresa, we are looking for a dog-experienced, compassionate home in a rural area with a house and garden and no small children. Also a foster home would be very welcome. Before departure, test for Babesiose, Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Dirofilaria and Leishmaniasis. Teresa is still in Romania. Cost contribution

Hundemama - TERESA - sucht einfühlsames Zuhause - Hündin, geb. ca. 2022, SH ca. 40–45 cm, kastriert, geimpft, gechipt.

About Hundemama

What life with Hundemama looks like

Hundemama is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hundemama, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hundemama?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hundemama on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hundemama if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hundemama already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hundemama isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hundemama and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
