Hurma

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

1.5 years old, 36 cm, 19 kg Healthy, vaccinated, microchipped, sterilized, and treated for parasites Hurma is not just a dog; she is the embodiment of joy and boundless love. Her smile can melt any heart, and her loyalty makes her the ideal companion for anything you do together. She is smart and obedient, finely attuned to your mood, and always ready to support and give warmth. Naturally gentle, Hurma easily makes contact with other animals, loves playful games in the group, and long walks in nature, where her energy and enthusiasm truly flourish. She masters car rides without a problem and becomes a reliable companion for every adventure. The name Hurma means in German "Kaki." Others also call it "Persimone" or "Sharon fruit." Hurma has a special story. As a puppy, she came to an animal shelter, and volunteers took her to a foster home. There, Hurma conquered everyone with her cheerful, friendly nature and her amazing ability to understand human wishes. Her foster mother says about her: "Hurma is the happiest and most playful girl here. She is house-trained and accustomed to going for walks on a leash and in harness. When I'm not around, she behaves perfectly, playing with toys or simply resting. At the same time, she is very sensitive, loves attention, warmth, and affection. She is ready to give back love and boundless loyalty." Hurma can be part of any family, just as easily a lively family with children as a quiet home where comfort and peace are cherished. Hurma is friendly with other dogs and remains calm around cats.

About Hurma

What life with Hurma looks like

Hurma is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. in Gladbeck.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hurma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hurma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hurma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hurma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hurma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hurma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Russische Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hurma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
