I cani più intelligenti del mondo&#8230

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Periodically, we are captivated by the interest of knowing who is the "most" person in the world: the strongest, the most beautiful, the most intelligent. Then research and studies are conducted, contests are held, sports competitions take place, and new records are set and surpassed. Dogs are sometimes involved in this inherent human tendency. A recent study conducted by the University of Helsinki - and published in Nature Scientific Reports - has compiled a new ranking of the most intelligent dog breeds in the world. The research group subjected 1,002 adult specimens of thirteen different breeds to a series of tests that challenged their ability to solve problems, social cognition, inhibition skills, and memory abilities. The goal was to understand whether intellectual qualities are genetic and therefore hereditary and characteristic of a specific type of dog: in particular, the breeds examined are those most often seen competing in canine sports. The specimens that achieved excellent results in most of the tests, demonstrating great logical and reasoning skills, were the Belgian Malinois. Very good results were also obtained from the German Shepherds, the Shetland Sheepdogs, the Lapinkoira, and also the mixed-breed dogs. Fortunately, the latter were not excluded from this study, which, by considering them, enriched its analysis by including a large part of the representatives of canine intelligence. Mixed-breed dogs, indeed, were not accidentally placed very well in the final ranking. The uniformity and correctness of the results awarded the title of the most intelligent to the Malinois, but each breed, as emphasized by Dr. Katriina Tiira from the research group, has strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Labrador Retriever proves to be a dog capable of interpreting human gestures well, while the Golden Retriever is quite sociable, and the Hovawart is an independent animal. It should also not be forgotten that each dog has a different experience from the others, but this study could not take this into account: lacking information on how and to what extent the evaluated dogs had been trained and their general backgrounds, the researchers reserve the right to continue their investigations in a future study. In the meantime, even though we know which breeds are currently considered the most brilliant, we can continue to admire all our four-legged friends and their particular, unique, and special intelligences.

What life with I cani più intelligenti del mondo&#8230 looks like

I cani più intelligenti del mondo&#8230 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Associazione Onlus Apaca in Italy.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.
