Ikarosz
Male · Adult · 6 years
Hometown: Hungary We have a DNA breed determination for him. The handsome Ikarosz arrived at our shelter on April 9, 2022. His story is not spectacular, but just as sad as the stories of the other homeless dogs at the animal shelter. Ikarosz was a stray, likely because he was no longer wanted. No microchip, no one missed him. We see the animal shelter as a chance that he will soon be discovered by loving people who will love and value him and give him a wonderful "Forever Home." But we also know that it will be very difficult for him as a stray dog. Ikarosz is an agile, strong, and friendly four-legged friend who, however, has not yet received any training. He loves cuddles, is happy when you play with him and engage with him. On the leash, he already does pretty well, but he is certainly still trainable. He has to learn many things about dog behavior and needs to sit at the desk. He wants to be mentally and physically challenged and do a lot with his new people. Unfortunately, Ikarosz does not get along with his fellow animals, and the animal shelter with its many dogs stresses him quite a bit. For our wonderful Ikarosz, we are looking for dog-experienced, sporty, and adventure-loving people who will give Ikarosz a varied and exciting life with clear leadership. Full family-oriented (without children), dog training classes, long walks, sports activities, play, fun, and lots of cuddles and love would make Ikarosz very happy. On April 7, 2024, a mentor wrote: "During the walk, he initially pulled on the leash because he was very active and mobile — he enjoyed the freedom to get out of his kennel. Later, he walked more calmly on the leash and paid attention to his surroundings. He was interested in everything, sniffing, enthusiastic, and happy. When you talk to him, he reacts immediately. A very sophisticated, people-oriented, friendly, and loving dog. He even enjoyed being stroked during his walk. Hungry for love. Ikarosz has been waiting for his new, permanent, responsible owner for a long time. As part of the family, he wants to move into his safe home where he is loved and respected, and where he receives a child-based upbringing. He needs a lot of attention and mental stimulation. It is also necessary to cover his mobility needs daily. He hopes for regular walks and playful activities. He wants to go on a trip with his family or hike." On March 10, 2025, a volunteer, Hungarian helper wrote: "Ikarosz has been a shelter resident for almost 3 years. Thanks to his mentor, he had the opportunity to participate in a thrilling and exciting walk at the mentor day. Ikarosz enjoyed every minute of the walk, finally able to get out of his kennel. He is an active, watchful, curious, and attentive dog. He is very cuddly, people-oriented, friendly, and loving. Hungry for love, he constantly seeks the company of people. His daily exercise needs must also be covered. He hopes for regular walks and playful activities. He walks well on the leash." On March 10, 2026, a volunteer, Hungarian helper wrote: "Ikarosz has lived in the animal shelter for almost four years. On a mentor day, he got the opportunity to go on an exciting and thorough walk thanks to his mentor. Ikarosz started actively, full of energy and happy with his mentor. In him, there is a great desire to learn about the big world and to lead a happy life with a owner. He is an interested, curious, and active dog who would follow his mentor everywhere during the walk. On the leash, he walks beautifully and enjoyed every minute of the walk. Meanwhile, cuddles and affection did him good. He paid attention to his mentor and to his wishes, and they became good friends quickly. Ikarosz waits with great eagerness and longing for his new owner and his family. A sporty and active family is sought, because regular daily walks are important for him. He would also like to go on trips and hikes with his family. Who has a free dog bed for Ikarosz? Ikarosz is ready for travel. In October 2024, Ikarosz will be 21 kg. Since Ikarosz is a stray mix, you need to inform yourself about your community's housing conditions if you are interested in him. Many thanks to dear Lisa Ferrari for taking over the patronage of Ikarosz.
