Adopt Iker

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Iker – The Whirlwind with Heart and Hope At first glance at Iker, it becomes clear: Here one meets a dog who does not hide. His clear eyes sparkle with joy, his body is full of energy – ready to run, explore, and live. Iker is a true Podenco: alert, attentive, full of movement, and with a character that is curious. Currently, he lives at our shelter – a stop in his life that hopefully soon leads to a real home. For Iker has already been through a lot. What he has experienced, one cannot see from his appearance, but it hints at why he is so full of movement. He did not stand still – neither physically nor in his heart. Perhaps because he deeply feels that something better awaits him. During his photoshoot, Iker made it clear what he is about: freedom, fun, and closeness. Standing still was not his thing – he preferred to run, jump, and explore his surroundings. By his side: Ron, a faithful companion who shares a similar fate. The two understood each other at first sight. And just like Iker interacts with his fellow animals – openly, friendly, and full of action – he shows what a social and playful dog he is. During a walk with one of the young volunteers, Iker happily danced over the paths. He was never overexcited – more unbridled and charming. He follows his nose, his instinct, his joy of life. Everything about him is alert – and yet somehow tender. One can feel: this dog has a huge heart that wants to be seen.

About Iker

What life with Iker looks like

Iker is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Iker, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Iker?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Iker on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Iker if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Iker already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Iker isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Iker and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
