Irmtraut

Female · Young · 1 year

Here we are—Ilse and Irmtraut, two sweet budgie girls. We were given up and are now urgently looking for a new home. In terms of personality, we’re both rather reserved yet curious. We’d love our new caregivers to provide us with a nice indoor aviary offering free flight, as well as budgie-appropriate food. Do you think we’d be a good match? If so, please send us an email and, ideally, tell us a bit about yourselves and your current living conditions right away. It would also be great if you could include some photos.

About Irmtraut

What life with Irmtraut looks like

Irmtraut is a young adult bird waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Irmtraut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Irmtraut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Irmtraut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Irmtraut if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a bird can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Stuttgart what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Irmtraut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a bird comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Stuttgart directly what is included and what Irmtraut still needs.
What happens if Irmtraut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Irmtraut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
