Pedro

Unknown

Our Senegal Parrot Pedro is looking for a loving and above all suitable home. For Pedro, we would like a spacious free-flight aviary where he has enough space to fly and engage in activities. Permanent cage keeping is not an option for him. It is particularly important that Pedro does not live alone. He should move into an existing same species Senegal Parrot or be socialized with a suitable partner bird. As very social animals, Senegal Parrots need contact with a conspecific for their well-being. For the

About Pedro

What life with Pedro looks like

Pedro is a large adult bird waiting at Tierheim Mönchengladbach in Mönchengladbach.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pedro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pedro?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Mönchengladbach handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pedro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pedro if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a bird can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Mönchengladbach what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Pedro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a bird comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Mönchengladbach directly what is included and what Pedro still needs.
What happens if Pedro isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Mönchengladbach early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pedro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
