India

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

INDIA and COLTÁN INDIA is a friendly crossbreed of podenco. She was given to us by her owner in a very poor state of health and with severe psychological consequences. Over time, INDIA has improved a lot, she is healthy and after a long process with her, she is now a happy dog. During this process, she spent some time in Madrid with a person who wanted to give her a home, but unfortunately, it was not a definitive solution for the family and she had to return to Córdoba. INDIA is friendly with dogs, cats and people. She is affectionate, sweet and good. She loves being surrounded by friends and enjoys walks, which was unthinkable a long time ago. Despite her positive evolution, INDIA will always be a dog with a hard past and a different fear management than other dogs. This means that she needs special dedication, as any small progress is a triumph in her life. For her, we need a family with patience, who is not in a hurry to adapt to the new situation, who knows how to adapt a safe environment to her needs and who is aware of the guidelines we have for her. INDIA is adopted with follow-ups, contract, European passport, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, blood tests, sterilization and veterinary check-up. They are in Córdoba but can travel to any point in Spain. All this will be at zero cost to the adopter, our Association assumes both veterinary expenses and the animal's transfer. ……………………………………………………………………. “ 2 al precio de 1 ” = INDIA and COLTÁN Several days after trying to locate an abandoned Breton near some containers in the Córdoba mountains, we finally managed to locate and rescue him with a trap cage. Many people had contacted us to inform us about him, some told us he had been in the area for weeks, others even months. After capturing him, we found an animal terrified, with fear etched in his eyes and in a terrible condition: extremely thin and full of wounds. We have seen many dogs with fleas, ticks, lice, but never with hundreds of "horse flies" that got into all parts of his body to feed on his blood. Our bittersweet surprise was when we scanned the microchip, because it turned out that he was identified. "Sweet" because behind an animal like this there may be a desperate family looking for him because he was lost. And "Bitter" because there may also be an owner who has had him in these conditions and wants to recover him to have him the same way... It happened that neither of the two options. After contacting our veterinarians with the owner, he decided to make a voluntary transfer of the dog. But here the story does not end, because he offered another animal, so without even seeing him, we decided to take charge and make an extra effort. At the veterinary clinic, a female dog was handed over, equally full of parasites and with wounds, with the appearance of having bred several times. Like her companion, with too much fear of humans and completely blocked. Finally, we have taken care of 2 dogs, both made to pieces, terrified and eaten by bugs. From now on, they will begin a new life, they are INDIA and COLTÁN. It will cost money and work to build their trust and start from scratch with them. At this time, they are in residence because we do not have anywhere else for them. They will be adopted with follow-ups, contract, European passport, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, blood tests, sterilization and veterinary check-up. They are in Córdoba but can travel to any point in Spain. All this will be at zero cost to the adopter, our Association assumes both veterinary expenses and the animal's transfer. We ask for help for them, there are many expenses that we have had and will have with these two poor dogs. Any collaboration will be very necessary to get them going. If you want to sponsor them or help us financially with their maintenance and residence, please write to us.

About India

What life with India looks like

India is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at El Amigo Fiel Córdoba in Spain.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting India, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about India?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. El Amigo Fiel Córdoba handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw India on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt India if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — El Amigo Fiel Córdoba will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is India already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if India isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with El Amigo Fiel Córdoba early rather than rehoming privately; they know India and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
