India

Female · Adult · 8 years

India isn't afraid to jump into deep water, effortlessly swim through the calm of life and overcome turbulence. This meaning of the name "India" perfectly describes our charge. This beautiful female dog was an employee at a company where she probably didn't experience much good. Nevertheless, she opened up and built a wonderful relationship with us, full of trust and tenderness. Among close ones, she is free, eager for antics with people and dogs. She has the strength of mountains, the calm of lakes, and the certainty of old trees. It doesn't prevent her from turning into a barking goat or a Persian cat that's scratching itself. During walks, she behaves politely, confidently moves forward waving a beautiful tail. She most enjoys lying in the grass and enjoying gentle caresses. She came to the animal shelter with an ailing ear and bravely endured difficult treatment, which only strengthened the relationship with the people who supported her. We believe that living in a real home will allow her to enjoy good health permanently. She is waiting for people who have kindness and a sense of humor - just like India herself! For India, we are looking for caregivers with experience in caring for a large dog and possessing appropriate conditions, such as: a house with free access to a garden, a quiet place to rest at home, a healthy diet, and free walks. Temperament: smart, affectionate and loyal (but distrustful of strangers), quiet, but also likes to play. Relationship with dogs: balanced, subtle, avoids conflicts. With cats: interested, but controlled. With children: recommend minimum age 13-14 years. Residence: house with a garden foundation. Friends of Palucha will provide the future family with support in veterinary costs.

To znaczenie imienia „India” idealnie opisuje naszą podopieczną. About India

What life with India looks like

India is a extra-large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: History of ear infection, requires ongoing health monitoring

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting India, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about India?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw India on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt India if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is India already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if India isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know India and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
