Indigo

Lurcher Β· Female Β· Young Β· 3 years

Indigo is a friendly 3-year-old Lurcher who is looking for a home where she can enjoy life at her own pace. She has been friendly and polite with everyone she has met, approaching people nicely and happily accepting attention. Keeping introductions calm will help Indigo feel safe and comfortable as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Indigo has shown an independent side when passing other dogs. She did previously show some worry when interacting with dogs in unfamiliar surroundings, so she will need time to build her confidence without too much pressure. As her confidence has grown, Indigo now enjoys playful off-lead sessions with dogs who match her playstyle. At this time, Indigo would be best suited to being the only dog in her home, allowing her to settle in and enjoy life without the added pressure of sharing her space with another dog. She is happiest pottering along on her walks, taking in her surroundings and having plenty of opportunities to sniff and explore. Indigo also has a playful side and enjoys spending time running around our paddocks with her favourite toys. Soft squeaky toys and rubber balls are particular favourites, providing her with plenty of fun. Potential owners will need to speak with a Battersea vet prior to rehoming Indigo. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Indigo, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Indigo

What life with Indigo looks like

Indigo is a medium-sized young adult lurcher dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indigo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indigo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indigo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indigo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Indigo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indigo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indigo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
