Indio

Male · Adult · 6 years

Indio was rescued from the dog pound with many injuries that have slowly healed, transforming him into the handsome dog he is today. We don't know much about his past or how long he was at the dog pound waiting for someone to notice him. This American Staffordshire is about 6 years old and is fully ready to comment on his new life. 💕 Indio is a loving, noble dog with low to medium energy, ideal for those seeking a calm but loving companion. During his time in the kennel enclosure, he tends to be quite calm, lying down, not barking, patiently waiting for his turn to go out. When we enter the kennel enclosure, he greets us with a hopeful look and wagging tail. During walks, at first he may pull a bit, but after a few minutes and as he starts to tire, he begins to follow the pace of the person taking him out. He is not suitable for living with other dogs, although he can walk alongside them without seeking trouble, following his own path and enjoying his walk. He is also not suitable for living with cats, so Indio should be a singleton. He has not been tested with children, but based on his temperament, we think he could get along well with the younger members of the household. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

ES·Show original

About Indio

What life with Indio looks like

Indio is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Must be an only pet - not suitable with other dogs or cats

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Indio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Indio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Indio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Indio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Indio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Indio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Indio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
