Adopt Invierno

Mixed Breed · Male

Invierno arrived at our shelter on June 15, 2024. From the first day, it was clear that he is an extremely shy and reserved cat. As of today, he is almost untouchable: it takes him a long time to trust and he easily gets scared by any unknown movement or presence. We know that his process will be slow and that he needs a lot of time, patience, and a calm environment without any rush or immediate expectations. He is a cat for people who understand that every small progress is a significant achievement. Although he still isn't ready for physical contact, we respect his pace and are looking for a family that can do the same. If you are willing to accompany a sensitive cat on a long and calm journey, Invierno might find in you the opportunity to finally start living.

About Invierno

What life with Invierno looks like

Invierno is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Protectora Villena in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Invierno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Invierno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Villena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Invierno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Invierno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Villena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Invierno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Invierno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Villena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Invierno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
