Adopt IRINI

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Breed: HSH-mixed breed? Project: Greece/Larissa (0, 05/2024) Gender: female/neutered Age: born 2021 Size: large Weight: approx. 25 kg Other: very friendly with people and other dogs, very playful, knows the leash Current Location: Animal shelter in Greece/Larissa IRINI's Story IRINI was found injured in the middle of the city of Tyrnavos. She was probably hit by a car, but as usual, there are no proofs… She was brought to the animal clinic immediately with two broken legs. Our veterinarian, Sophia, who is fortunately specialized in orthopedic cases, performed two surgeries. First, she treated the uncomplicated break in the front leg, and in a six-hour operation, she saved the completely shattered back leg. Now, about a year after the operation, the front leg has healed without any lasting damage, and the back leg has also recovered well. She can walk again and seems to have no pain. Only occasionally does she lift the leg in a splint, probably after overexertion. In November, the plates and screws will be removed, and then IRINI can hopefully start her new life. A very friendly female dog, very cheerful, very playful, she is full of life😃. IRINI has no problem with other dogs, and she is friendly with all people, whether big or small. Cats should still be tested. She also knows the leash, is clean in the house, and can usually be left alone for a while. Of course, we do not know which breeds are involved. But based on her original origin, it is assumed that maybe the Greek German Shepherd was also involved. Therefore, IRINI will only be rehomed in experienced hands. This is a current and temporary assessment of IRINI. How she will behave in the future, especially after moving into a new home, we cannot predict. Every animal, like us humans, will change and continue to develop. But with the right, patient, and loving guidance, IRINI will certainly become a faithful companion. IRINI is microchipped, vaccinated, treated against endo- and ectoparasites, tested for so-called Mediterranean diseases, and already neutered. Where will the sweet one find her new home?

Rasse: HSH-Mischling? Projekt: Griechenland/Larissa (0, 05/2024) Geschlecht: weiblich/kastriert Alter: geb. 🙃❤️

About IRINI

What life with IRINI looks like

IRINI is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. in Bamberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting IRINI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about IRINI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw IRINI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt IRINI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is IRINI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if IRINI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know IRINI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
