Irish Setter „Lilly“

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Lilly is a young Irish Setter female dog, about 1.5 years old, who is currently looking for a new home due to private circumstances of her family. For Lilly, we really wish for an absolute five-star-plus home - preferably with people who have experience with Irish Setters or at least a lot of understanding for sensitive, active, and attachment-oriented dogs. Lilly is a very loving, sensitive, and affectionate female dog who becomes very attached to her person. She needs a lot of closeness and physical contact and wants to be everywhere. At the same time, it is currently difficult for her to really relax. She lives with several other dogs at her foster home, which clearly stresses her. Therefore, we are looking for a rather quiet home with clear structures, fixed routines, and as little disturbance as possible. Lilly is not particularly stress-resistant and needs people who are willing to work on issues such as rest training, frustration tolerance, and impulse control with her. She needs clear, loving guidance and above all understanding, patience, and time to truly feel at home. Lilly is very friendly with children, so reasonable children from school age are generally no problem. Nevertheless, her new home should be rather quiet and structured overall. As a typical member of her breed, Lilly has a strong prey drive and has a large area outdoors. Although she is currently well responsive when off-leash, one should be aware that she is a typical Irish Setter with the corresponding tendencies. Lilly gets along well with other dogs, but we would prefer a maximum of one other dog in the household, as too many dogs in her immediate environment are currently not good for her. Unfortunately, Lilly was already spayed very early. She is generally rather small and delicate for an Irish Setter female. Of course, Lilly is vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. She will be placed after a preliminary check, personal meeting, with a protection agreement and a fee. Please only contact us if you are seriously interested and if you are really aware that Lilly is a sensitive dog girl who needs people who will accompany her long-term and give her the security to finally feel at home. Lilly is very loved at her foster home - exactly for this reason, we wish only the very best home for her. Lilly is located in NRW in the Bergische region. About Irish Setter „Lilly“

What life with Irish Setter „Lilly“ looks like

Irish Setter „Lilly“ is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jagdhunde in Not e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Irish Setter „Lilly“, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Irish Setter „Lilly“?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jagdhunde in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Irish Setter „Lilly“ on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Irish Setter „Lilly“ if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jagdhunde in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Irish Setter „Lilly“ already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Irish Setter „Lilly“ isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jagdhunde in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Irish Setter „Lilly“ and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
