adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Irmi has found her forever home! Her story: Zuckerschnute Irmi looks into the camera with her gentle, cautious doggy gaze and melts every heart with her loving nature. This sweet puppy, with its particularly endearing expression, is only about 38 cm tall, weighs 10 kg, and is 6 months old, and is expected to keep her practical, small size. Irmi has fluffy, black fur, loyal, dark button eyes, and beautiful, small ears. Since the beginning of August, she has been living in her foster family and has already wrapped everyone around her little paws. At first, everything was very new to Irmi, and she was very skeptical of the new surroundings and strangers, especially men, but she is now warming up. Despite her cautiousness with the new, Irmi has shown remarkable courage, is curious to discover everything, and runs better on the leash. She constantly checks to make sure everything is okay and that her attachment figure is safe with her, making her already quite recallable. She is developing into a loving young pup, cuddly and playful, compatible with fellow animals, whether much larger or very small. She is still cautious around cats. She is also very open with children. One must simply love her with her sunny, delicate, and playful nature. Surprisingly, she is already house-trained, even though she hasn't been in her foster home for long. However, she still finds car rides grueling and has a great respect for standing cars. Therefore, a more quiet environment would be very beneficial for Irmi, and it would also be good to introduce her to an independent dog, where she can orient herself. Puppies should not be left alone for as little as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, Irmi's puberty is not far off, and this is also a time when the foundations for the rest of her life are set for dogs. Therefore, we recommend working with a positively trained dog class for her new family. Patient and loving training will strengthen her self-confidence, deepen her bond with her trusted people, and keep her physically and mentally stimulated. Have you fallen in love with the cute puppy and have a place in your heart for the sweet Irmi? Then contact us! We would like to thank Eva, the namingsponsor, for giving Irmi her sweet name and thus her own identity. As of: 08.09. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Gets along with other dogs.

Stand: 08.09.2024

About Irmi

What life with Irmi looks like

Irmi is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Irmi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Irmi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Irmi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Irmi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Irmi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Irmi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Irmi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
