Itala

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Itala, a lovely Italian Greyhound, was found roaming around Nagykörös on June 11, 2026, in search of food and shelter. She was reported to the animal shelter by concerned citizens and fortunately arrived there unharmed. During chip control, no match was found, and she has not been reported as missing. It is assumed that she was abandoned. Her quarantine period has ended, and Itala awaits loving people who will accompany her on her journey and whom she can trust for life. Itala has unfortunately experienced the darker side of life but seems to have coped well with it. She is a playful, lively, and cheerful dog. New situations may impress her at times. She needs much closeness and love and enjoys petting and attention. Although still green behind the ears, she must be taught everything lovingly and patiently that a young four-legged friend needs to know for his or her further life as a beloved family dog. She brings excellent prerequisites to become a great companion who will go through thick and thin with their humans. However, potential owners should be aware of the responsibility and work involved in bringing up a puppy. Itala gets along well with her fellow dogs and loves to play, romp, and frolic with them. We are looking for loving and enthusiastic dog lovers who will welcome her into their families forever. She needs appropriate occupation, wants to be challenged and promoted age-appropriately, and go on discovery trips with her humans. In addition, she needs many cuddle hours, sufficient rest phases, a lot of play and fun, dog school, great walks, and Itala can leave the past behind and start a happy future. Who will show Itala the sunny sides of life? Currently, she is still too young for castration, which must be done by new owners when she is old enough. The estimated final size is 42-52 cm and weight 11-18 kg. On July 1, 2026, Itala will be 32 cm and weigh 5.2 kg. Unfortunately, Itala has a short tail. For interested parties from Switzerland, an X-ray must be clarified whether she was born this way or if her tail was docked. Itala can travel around the beginning/middle of August 2026 when she finds a home or foster family.

About Itala

What life with Itala looks like

Itala is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Itala, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Itala?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Itala on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Itala if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Itala already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Itala isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Itala and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
