adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Ivara has found its own home! Her story: Ivara had a sad past. She was found in a village under a bridge, chained up, and with no chance to move freely. Beside her lay her two puppies, both severely ill. One of them unfortunately did not make it. For the young mother dog, it must have been terrible to be trapped in such a place, still worrying about the lives of her babies. Despite everything, Ivara has maintained her kindness. She meets people openly and affectionately, seeks closeness, and enjoys cuddles. She also shows herself to be compatible with other dogs, so she could also feel comfortable in a multi-dog household. As for cats, we cannot make any statements at this time. With her medium size of about 50 cm and 20 kg, she is a pleasant companion suitable for an active family, dog-experienced couples, or individuals. Since she likely has never lived in a real home before, she will need to learn some things, such as house training or walking calmly on a leash. With patience, clear orientation, and positive training in dog training classes, she will master these tasks and grow into a reliable companion. Ivara travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport. After a positive match, would you like to show Ivara what it is like to lead a protected life in security and wake up without fear and chains? A big thank you goes to Claudia, who not only gave Ivara a name but also the chance at a new life! Status: 20.10.

Stand: 20.10.2025

About Ivara

What life with Ivara looks like

Ivara is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
