Ivor

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

ID No.: r-korfu-ivor-m-0821 Update May 2025: Ivor has now been in the animal shelter for 4 years this summer - a far too long time :-( Our senior is a wonderful, great dog, weighing about 25kg and already knows how to walk on a leash. Ivor loves being with people and enjoys cuddles and treats. He has been living for some time with other dogs of both sexes in the large free-run area between the enclosures. He also passed the cat test with flying colors (see video from March 2025). Update January 2022: Ivor is still waiting in the animal shelter for his people. Currently, he shares a run with several male and female dogs, which is working well. When will Ivor finally get his chance? August 2021: Ivor is around 6-7 years old and about 56cm tall, weighing 22kg. He was found tied to a tree. In the animal shelter, Ivor shows himself to be a friendly guy towards people. He gets along well with female dogs, but with male dogs, it depends on the chemistry. All our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport. Ivor is supported by Herr Jaax from Cologne with 15€ per month - many thanks.

20260108 03 Ivor Januar 2026 20260108 02 Ivor Januar 2026

About Ivor

What life with Ivor looks like

Ivor is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
