Iwo

Male · Young · 3 years

Iwo is a black and white tomcat who has arrived at the Shelter and is now in a completely new and difficult situation for himself. He needs time to feel safe and get used to his new surroundings. Despite his fear, he is not aggressive, and his behavior is primarily due to uncertainty and fear. Iwo is currently in the cat hospital, where he is under the care of doctors and is undergoing ophthalmic diagnostics. He needs peace, patience and caring care to gradually gain confidence. The tomcat is also a carrier of the FIV virus. He can live as a single cat or in a home with another FIV+ carrier cat. The virus does not pose a threat to humans or other animal species. We are looking for a responsible and understanding forever home for Iwo. One where he will receive time, peace and a safe space to gradually get used to his new reality. We believe that by the side of a patient person, Iwo will have a chance to feel safe and gradually gain trust. Before adoption, we suggest reading the pre-adoption questionnaire and arriving at the shelter with the completed questionnaire: Note: When deciding on the adoption of a cat or considering it, be sure to take a transporter or transport bag for cats with you to the shelter. Before adoption, make sure your home / apartment is safe and properly prepared to accept a new family member. Remember to secure windows and balcony. If you have a resident cat, take the FIV and FeLV test results with you.

Pamiętaj, żeby zabezpieczyć okna i balkon. Jeśli masz kota rezydenta, zabierz ze sobą wyniki testów FIV i FeLV.

About Iwo

What life with Iwo looks like

Iwo is a small young adult cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Iwo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Iwo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Iwo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Iwo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Iwo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Iwo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Iwo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
