Izabell

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Breed: mixed-breed female dog Age: born around 01/2018 Hello… my name is Izabell… I am a really sweet adult female dog with a stylish, shiny, reddish-brown short haircut and white patches on my coat. My ears can turn in the funny curved/slap ear variation and spin in all directions so I don’t miss any news… I am sooo happy to be with people, although I probably made some bad experiences in my earlier life, as I get scared by sudden movements or cleaning tools… I am also happy to be with my fellow animals, but cats do not come into my house, which I handle like Alf from the planet Melmac… As already mentioned, I probably had a previous owner who was not so good to me…. then I actually had the good fortune to win a family for myself, but unfortunately I have separation anxiety and have destroyed the living room for them… that obviously did not go over well with them and they brought me back… I wish for a family that is always there for me, in good times and bad, and is definitely ready to work with me on my separation anxiety… Maybe you already have a safe dog buddy at home or you adopt two from our ranks… Whatever the connection is, what matters is that I can give you my heart and you will never let it go… Do you have a desire to meet me? Then please contact my coordinators, they are all very friendly and will explain to you what it takes for me to travel to you… Before I travel to my new home, I will be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you wish to adopt me, please contact my coordinators.

About Izabell

What life with Izabell looks like

Izabell is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Izabell, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Izabell?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Izabell on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Izabell if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Izabell already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Izabell isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Izabell and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
