Name: Jack. Breed: mixed breed Gender: male/neutered Born: ca.05/2024Size/Weight: ca.50cm/19kgDogs: yesCats: not knownChildren: older childrenSpecials: noneResidence: 33181 Bad Wünnenberg Jack and his brother Teddy were found last year in Poland on an orchard field, abandoned and left to their fate. Both dogs were then still puppies and came together to the animal shelter. Since then, Jack and Teddy have been waiting in the animal shelter in Poland and have never received an application. It was really a shame because both dogs are very loving, open, and people-friendly. We then brought Jack to Germany in January of this year. It was urgently time for him to leave the kennel in Poland before the young dog withdrew more and more. Jack is young and wants to discover the big wide world. He wants to learn and experience so much more. The handsome male dog enjoys every affection, he wants to play, run around, and snuggle with his people. Jack gets along well with his fellow animals. Jack is a cheerful young dog who would like to learn the small dog ABC together with his people. With men, he is a bit more reserved, the female gender has it a bit easier at the beginning. But with the right treats, Jack can be easily bribed. In the right family, preferably with older children, we are sure Jack will become a great family dog. About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a large puppy/kitten doberman dog waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
