Jack

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Male Β· Young Β· 1 year

Meet Jack!Jack is a handsome young black and white gentleman with a wonderfully affectionate personality just waiting to shine through. He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a moment and you'll soon discover what a sweet, loving boy he really is!When Jack first arrived at the centre, he was understandably nervous and preferred to hide away in the safety of his cat pod. However, it didn't take long for his affectionate side to emerge. Although he can still be a little unsure when new people approach, a calm voice and some gentle reassurance are usually all it takes to win him over.Once Jack feels comfortable, he's an absolute sweetheart! He loves human company, enjoys plenty of fuss and will happily give cuddles to his favourite people. He's also quite a chatty chap and will often greet the animal care team with a little meow when they enter his pod, especially if he thinks some attention might be coming his way!Jack particularly enjoys having company while he eats, and a lovely fuss followed by some tasty food is definitely his idea of a good time. He can occasionally give a little nibble when he gets overexcited, so he'll appreciate someone who understands feline body language and knows when he's had enough attention.Despite his initial nerves, Jack has been very good during his health checks and is showing just how quickly he can relax when approached with kindness and patience.Jack in a nutshell:- Handsome young black and white adult cat- Initially shy but warms up quickly- Very affectionate once he feels comfortable- Loves cuddles, gentle fuss and human company- A chatty boy who enjoys greeting familiar people- Particularly enjoys company while eating- May give little affectionate nibbles when overexcited- Has been cooperative during his health checks- Would appreciate a calm, patient approach while settling inJack is a lovely example of why first impressions don't always tell the whole story. Behind that slightly nervous exterior is a loving, sociable boy who really enjoys being around people. With a little patience, a gentle approach and plenty of affection, we're sure Jack will soon feel comfortable enough to show his new adopter just how wonderful he is.If you're looking for a sweet, chatty companion who loves a cuddle and will reward your patience with plenty of affection, Jack could be the boy for you!

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Cornwall Branch in Saint Columb.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Cornwall Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Cornwall Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Cornwall Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
