Jack

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Jack, our little adventurer had been largely on his own in his young life so far. He had the good fortune to be caught in a live trap at the same time as another dog, which was not meant for him. The animal shelter staff were surprised when they freed the two and brought them to safety. A small miracle that likely saved Jack's life. Jack meets the people in the enclosure friendly and with promising curiosity. The harness still scares him a bit – he probably doesn't know a life on the leash. But with patience, he will understand that walks are something wonderful and that no one wants to harm him. His sensitive, affectionate nature is simply touching. He observes attentively, stays in the vicinity, and as soon as you are calm with him, he shows his gentle nature. It is still too early to see his whole self, but his eyes already speak of a dog who has so much love to give. Even during his photoshoot, everything was new to him: new people, the camera, the unfamiliar surroundings. But he held on, attentive and brave. One can feel how much he longs to finally arrive in a home where he feels safe. Where Jack comes from remains a mystery. No one has missed him, he doesn't have a chip, and officially, he belongs to no one. And yet, somewhere out there, exactly the person awaits who he belongs with, who whispers softly in his ear that he never has to go away again. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

DE·Show original

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
