Jackson

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

This handsome boy is Jackson! He is full of life, love and personality. This friendly lad loves everyone he meets and is always eager to say hello. He’s a happy, affectionate boy who absolutely thrives on attention and will happily soak up all the fuss you can give him. Being just 1 year old, he’s still very much a puppy at heart. He’s energetic, playful and always ready for fun. He loves his toys, and keeps the staff on their toes by chasing the hose pipe during cleaning time or turning the kennel brush into his latest toy! His enthusiasm for life is infectious. When he gets excited, he can become a little nippy, so he will benefit from continued positive training and owners who can help him channel his excitement appropriately. With the right guidance, he’s a clever boy who is eager to learn. Out and about, he’s a good boy on walks and enjoys getting out to explore and go on adventures. He would love an active home where he can enjoy plenty of exercise, playtime and enrichment. If you’re an active household looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, this wonderful boy could be the perfect addition to your home. He would benefit from a private secure garden. Jackson has socialised with other dogs whilst in our care, he can be a little unsure at first but once he has had a sniff he relaxes. We do feel he would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where he can get 100% of the training and build up his confidence around other dogs in his own time with lots of positive reinforcement. As he came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on him so would prefer any children in the home to be 12+ year.

About Jackson

What life with Jackson looks like

Jackson is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jackson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jackson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jackson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jackson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jackson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jackson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jackson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
