Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t*

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 14 years

Jacob born: 2012, microchipped, vaccinated, will be neutered (medically cleared). Jakob is about 14 years old – and has spent almost his entire life in a kennel. When we took him in, he didn't even have a blanket. No soft place, no sofa, no loving home. We got a frail, exhausted little heap of misery. Today, the world looks different for Jakob. After a few days of arriving, he was thoroughly examined by a vet: His heart is fine, and his internal organs show no significant issues. An enlarged testicle will be surgically treated, and we are also keeping an eye on his prostate. Of course, we will cover the upcoming surgery costs. And Jakob? He has shown himself to be an incredibly friendly, gentle, and grateful male dog. He has gained weight, his fur is shiny, and his eyes are alert. What particularly moves us: At the beginning, he only lay on the floor. Today, he naturally goes to the sofa in his room – and enjoys it. As if he understood that it's now allowed to be soft. He gallops like a little pony across the meadow, loves walks with his nose to the ground, and rediscovers the world. Balls and chew toys – things he probably never had – make him truly happy. Jakob is: – friendly to people of all ages – absolutely loving and cuddly – social with female dogs – not aggressive towards male dogs – almost house-trained (and at this age!) – easy to handle on a leash and pleasant in everyday life. He just wants to be there. To feel close. To get cuddles. …… To arrive. For Jakob, we are looking for a home for the rest of his life – either in a hospice where we continue to cover all costs, or in a full adoption. A friendly female dog is welcome. Children are also welcome, because Jakob is simply friendly. After 14 years of deprivation, we wish him nothing more than a warm dog bed, a family, and people who show him: Life can be beautiful. He just wants to enjoy it. Walks well on a leash.

DE·Show original

About Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t*

What life with Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* looks like

Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Listenhunde Nothilfe in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t*, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t*?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Listenhunde Nothilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Listenhunde Nothilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Listenhunde Nothilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacob *r e s e r v i e r t* and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
