Jacob

Mixed Breed · Male

Can live with: Adult only home Jacob came to Bluebell Ridge after his owner was sadly no longer able to care for him. Having only ever known one home and one person, the transition has been understandably overwhelming for this gentle boy. Right now, Jacob prefers the safety of his box, watching the world from his hiding spot — although we have started to see the occasional curious little face peeking out, especially when dinner is being served! We truly believe that in a calm home environment, with patient adopters willing to give him time and space, Jacob will settle much more quickly and blossom into the sweet lad we know is hiding underneath his worries. Jacob is a little on the larger side, so he is looking for someone who can help him on his gentle weight-loss journey too. Once he feels confident enough to explore outside, we’re sure a little extra exercise and adventure will help him slim down nicely. He would suit a quiet adult-only home with kind adopters who understand that building trust can take time — but earning it will be so rewarding. Can you offer this nervous lad a second chance at the happy forever home he deserves? 🤎 Scroll through the gallery of images above or click to open

About Jacob

What life with Jacob looks like

Jacob is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Jacob far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
