How do I contact the shelter about Jadro?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jadro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Jadro if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Jadro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Jadro isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jadro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Jadro was simply left alone one night in front of a café. The frightened little puppy hid himself patiently, waiting for his people to come back. But no one ever did. For several weeks now, he’s been living at the shelter—and yet, he’s managed to keep his big heart and his joy of life. And Jadro carries a very special name. In Croatia, the Jadro is a crystal-clear river that has been considered a source of life for centuries. That’s exactly what we wish for this charming boy: that his new life finally begins where he’ll be loved, protected, and never again abandoned. He probably has some Croatian Shepherd Dog in him—a smart, eager-to-learn, and active breed. That’s why we’re looking for people who’d love to explore the world together with him, lovingly support his development, and provide him with species-appropriate activities. Whether it’s exciting walks, nose work, little brain teasers, or later on, dog sports—Jadro will join in with enthusiasm. But just as important to him are peace, security, and lots of cuddles. At his age, he’s curious, playful, and simply adorable. He loves human contact, enjoys every petting, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. We don’t yet know whether he also likes cats—of course, we’d be happy to test that if you’re interested. Jadro isn’t looking for the “perfect” family. He’s looking for people who’ll show him that belonging means being allowed to stay forever. People who won’t see him as the abandoned puppy they found, but as the wonderful lifelong friend he can become. Who will finally give this little ray of hope the home he’s been patiently waiting for? 🖤🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-button Interested in adopting him? About Jadro

What life with Jadro looks like

Jadro is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.
