Jaffa

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Jaffa is a sweet young man, who has bags of energy and would thrive in an active home. Jaffa would love to live somewhere a bit quieter where he can chill without seeing too many dogs, as this can be a bit frustrating for him. Jaffa must have a garden in his new home, where he can burn off all his terrier energy! He struggles with vet handling at times, so may need to be muzzled for more invasive visits. Jaffa is not housetrained, so will need some support with this in his new home. Jaffa will also need a family that are home for the majority of the day at first, as he will need his leaving hours to be built up slowly while he settles in. Jaffa will make a wonderful addition to the right home. Meet gorgeous boy, Jaffa! Jaffa is a 1.8-year old JRT looking for his forever home. Jaffa would like to be the only dog in the home, as he needs a bit of work on his social skills. Jaffa can be vocal towards dogs out and about, so for this reason would prefer quieter areas to walk in where he can chill. Any children in the home should be secondary school aged and over, as he can be bouncy but is super loving and sweet. Jaffa is looking for an active home that can take him on lots of fun adventures. He loves to get out and use his nose to explore, but can also pull on the lead if something is quite exciting. He is a busy terrier, so will need lots of enrichment to keep his clever brain entertained! Jaffa is eager to learn, and loves to partake in a training session. He loves his food and playing with his toys, so these will be great aids in any ongoing training you may want to do with Jaffa. We can't wait to see him thriving in his forever home!

About Jaffa

What life with Jaffa looks like

Jaffa is a young adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaffa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaffa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaffa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaffa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaffa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaffa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaffa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
