Jake

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 3 years

Personality:Jake came into our care from a multi-cat household and was very scared on arrival. As he didn’t settle in the cattery environment, he went to a foster home so that he has a more familiar environment. Jake feels comfortable to access his resources and is inquisitive around his foster carers. He is still nervous and is not yet initiating for fuss so he will be looking for his adopters to offer a hands off approach. Behaviour:Jake likes to settle at height in his foster home. He is a curious boy so he likes to keep watch of what’s going on in his surroundings. During the day, he enjoys watching out of the window and overnight he is especially playful. His foster carers will spend time in his own room with him, and in his own time he will approach to investigate. By offering a hands off approach, he will have choice and control over any interactions, if he decides to initiate for this. Currently, he will play with toys with his carers after a little time of observing to gain his confidence. He would love to have a quiet household with patient adopters who will respect his boundaries. Housing:Jake is benefitting from the safety of his own unused room at his foster carers, and finds new surroundings a little scary, so for this reason he must have his own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. Adopters will need to be prepared for this room to be used for him long-term as it is unknown how long it will take for him to fully settle. He will need full outside access once he is ready e.g. a cat flap. He cannot be homed in West end area, so16/ so18. Please note, Jake is currently in a foster home in Locks Heath. The successful applicant will be able to meet Jake in his foster home with a member of staff present. Children/pets:Jake will need an adult only, only pet household to give him the best chance to settle into a new home. Vet history:Jake is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Jake has no known medical conditions. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated.

About Jake

What life with Jake looks like

Jake is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jake, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jake?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jake on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jake if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Jake already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jake isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jake and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
