Adopt Jane

Female · Adult · 8 years

Past: stray wandering in Guadeloupe then passage through the pound. Abortions in Guadeloupe while she was pregnant. My character: playful; stubborn; food guardian; gentle; happy to go out; hunter; confident; moody Health: had stones operated on; filled with lead; needs urinary dry kibble and a trainer's follow-up My size: 20.25 kg (very big) ideal family: letting her live her life without any constraints Hello everyone! My name is Jane In the park, I love running everywhere, I have a lot of energy to spare. I love when my volunteers throw me a toy because I can run around even more with my super find. I really like cuddles too, but I'm not a dog that likes long cuddles! I jump on you, we have a big cuddle and... OH a toy! On walks, I take full advantage. I don't pay attention to the human, I prefer to enjoy my walk. I smell and look everywhere. However, I don't pull and am very pleasant to walk. To thrive, I would need a garden to be crazy, as well as a spot just for me where I will be safe. My family will need to earn my trust, with kindness and a lot of patience. They will also need to give me my bowl every day by hand, until I understand that no one will steal my food. My family should not be afraid to correct me if I go in all directions and for that, the trainer from the shelter can help us. They would give me the good God without confession, I am very beautiful but with a strong character. I would love to find my own family, whom I can love and cuddle and especially, my family in which I will have blind trust over time. About Jane

What life with Jane looks like

Jane is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at SPA de l in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jane, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jane?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de l handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jane on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jane if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de l will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jane already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jane isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de l early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jane and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
