Adopt Taurus

Labrador Retriever · Male · Adult · 8 years

Left: found stray. My character: kind; energetic; playful; happy; strong; a bit abrupt; patient; sporty; loves balls; determined; independent; knows how to be alone. Size: 20 / 25 kg. Ideal family: energetic or sporty; loving; giving attention; patient. Osteopathy: many blockages due to years of being confined. Health: seen by an eye specialist for a cloud on the eye: it's a form of "tartar" not serious but requires drops for life to limit progression. Tail broken. No pain, no disability. Grooming at the shelter: doesn't like to be wet. SOS: too much time in the box (6 years). Ladies and gentlemen, I've been here for far too long, I've almost spent my whole life at the shelter... I'm Taurus and when you take the time to get to know me, I'm a super playful dog, they even say that my personality is that of a baby in a big boy's body. My thing is going to the park with my volunteer friends and finding all possible balls, I love that (Mbappé comes out of this body)! In addition to loving balls, I could spend all my time outside, obviously with a ball, because I really have trouble with the very Spartan comfort of my box. I'm an outdoor dog who thrives through play and love, so I would need a garden and space to express myself and live happily - ALL THAT I DESERVE ALL THIS TIME! On walks, when my volunteer comes to get me, happiness is on my face and I even throw a party for him to show how happy I am to spend time with him and to get out of my bars! After that, when we spend time together, I even ask for tummy scratches after a good slide on my back properly (it makes him laugh so I take advantage 😂) Yes, yes, I'm a rascal at times and that's my charm. Leaving my box is a bit sporty in the shelter because I strongly flee my box, but this problem is no longer one once the walk begins, because then I become the soft big dog I originally am! Despite my more than positive evolution since my arrival, these 5 long years have made me lose hope of an adoption chance, so I am starting to develop a major depression and fear of loneliness, pacing around, chewing my door, howling from boredom and despair. 😢 It is then a cry for help that my volunteers launch: Can you give me your full trust and finally give me my chance? If you are captivated by my energy and my mischievous face, come meet me and who knows, adopt me so I can finally experience the dream life, one I unfortunately never experienced despite the love of the volunteers. Canydays 2024: 8 km walk; swimming and big relaxation. Canydays 2024: agility training. Our Taurus in a gentle mode. Breed history: 55 to 62 cm tall for 25 to 36 kg; lifespan 10 to 12 years; placid; intelligent; kind; communicative; agile; trusting; gentle; three colors brown, black, and yellow; originating from Newfoundland.

About Taurus

What life with Taurus looks like

Taurus is a medium-sized adult labrador retriever dog waiting at SPA de l in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Taurus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Taurus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de l handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Taurus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Taurus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de l will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Taurus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Taurus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de l early rather than rehoming privately; they know Taurus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
