Adopt Janice

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Energetic, playful, open, and curious Janice came to us at the animal shelter with her sister Juna and her brother, who had a severe skin infection. The three were found without their mother on an unoccupied piece of land, likely another case of abandonment. They received daily medical baths to combat the intense itching and became more lively each day. Their fur has grown back beautifully, and hardly anything reminds us of the tough time they spent alone. Her brother had the good fortune to be adopted to a loving home in Greece. Now, Juna and Janice are on the search for their own family. Both are friendly, playful, and get along well with other dogs. They play, run, and romp all day, taking occasional breaks for relaxed sunbathing. Janice is open and clingy with people, approaching with curiosity, enjoying every pat, and loving the contact with humans. Currently, Janice stands about 50 cm at the shoulder and is slowly growing into a character-strong young female dog. At the same time, she also exhibits typical herding dog traits. Therefore, we hope to find people who enjoy working with an independent dog with patience, consistency, and an understanding of her special qualities. Especially, we hope that Janice will soon find a loving home or foster family, so she does not have to grow up in the animal shelter. For young dogs, it is so important to learn about security, everyday life, and a close bond with humans. For Janice, we are looking for a loving home with clear leadership, adequate physical and mental stimulation, and preferably a rural environment. Every dog that is placed free up space for another dog in need who is suffering from hunger and emaciation. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped. Gets along with other dogs.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Janice

What life with Janice looks like

Janice is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Janice, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Janice?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Janice on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Janice if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Janice already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Janice isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Janice and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
