Janka

Vizsla · Female · Adult · 5 years

26.09.2026 Drahthaar-Fans wanted! Our beautiful and always cheerful German Wirehaired Pointer mix dog Janka was rescued from a Hungarian animal shelter. She is a stray, so neither we nor the shelter know anything about her past. Upon her arrival at "Vizslaland" in Füle, Janka was neither vaccinated nor chipped, which was of course immediately taken care of. It also turned out that Janka had no conditioning. We therefore suspect that she had to spend her previous life on a chain, as a veterinary examination revealed no signs of any physical limitations. In the meantime, Janka has already built up her muscles and enjoys her walks. Janka is an infinitely loving, cheerful and people-oriented dog lady. She also gets along wonderfully with her fellow dogs. Janka has since been spayed and lives on a foster home in Germany, where she can also be visited. The veterinarians in Germany estimate Janka's age to be around 3-4 years, so a female dog at the very best age. We wish Janka a family - also with older children - who would like to offer Janka a loving and breed-appropriate home. Like all hunting dogs, Janka of course needs regular and extensive walks, an occupation for her clever head and of course her rest periods. Janka would certainly have a lot of fun with mantrailing, tracking and dummy training, as joint activities also promote trust-building between human and animal. As with all our dogs, Janka will of course not be placed in kennel housing. Location: Füle (Hungary).

26.09.2026 Drahthaar-Fans gesucht!

About Janka

What life with Janka looks like

Janka is a adult vizsla dog waiting at Vizsla in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Janka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Janka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vizsla in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Janka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Janka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vizsla in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Janka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Janka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vizsla in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Janka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
