Adopt Jansa

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Stripped and cold with frostbite on his ears, Jansa appeared in Sipa in February. It is unknown what life he has lived or how long he has been wandering, as locals had not seen him there before, but they were very concerned about his future and took the unfortunate cat to the shelter for warmth. Jansa spent his first weeks just sleeping and eating, showing no greater interest in his surroundings. At the clinic, it was found that a cruel person had shot the kitten, there are two bullets in his neck area, which are so deep that they cannot be removed. No other major health issues were found in Jansa. After cleaning himself, the kitten began to explore his surroundings more and seek contact, and it turned out to be a very friendly character, who likes to be petted, wants cuddles and affection. Jansa is especially good with children, and in fact, the children like him very much, because one wants to be scratched so much and the other wants to scratch so much. Also, Jansa's tail moves perfectly. The kitten spends days in the cat room, he usually lies on the couch and watches the others from above. Climbing and jumping do not interest him much, nor does playing, but socializing with others is good and sometimes someone gives him a treat and lets his paw be properly rubbed. Jansa is ready to start his new life with a new family in a new home, because if he is old somewhere, he will now remain in the past. Interested parties are kindly requested to write to the foster home at the email address!

Tekkis huvi? Täida ankeet ja paku kodu!

About Jansa

What life with Jansa looks like

Jansa is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ in Estonia.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

Frequently asked

Adopting Jansa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jansa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jansa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jansa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jansa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jansa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Gabrieli Loomade Elu MTÜ early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jansa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
