Adopt Jaro

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 4 years

Our Jaro is a friendly male dog who values the closeness to his people and quickly forms a close bond. He is very clingy, enjoys shared moments, and actively seeks contact with his trusted people. When meeting unfamiliar people, Jaro is usually friendly and open. Often, he initiates contact and enjoys being petted. However, respectful handling is important: if someone approaches him very directly or fixes their gaze on him, he may feel uncomfortable and react accordingly. Head touches should only be from familiar people and should be done gently. Those who take his signals seriously will quickly realize that Jaro is good at reading them. During walks, Jaro shows himself to be a pleasant companion. He is happy to be on the go, walks loosely on the leash, and is well attuned to his person. He knows the basic commands. He handles environmental stimuli like joggers, cyclists, or other walkers calmly. Encounters with other dogs are mostly peaceful, and shared walks with fellow animals are problem-free. However, if he is barked at, he may react accordingly, but can then be guided and regulated well. Currently, Jaro still carries a bit too much weight, which limits his condition. With his enthusiasm for movement, adjusted exercise, and feeding, he is already on the right path to losing his extra pounds. At the vet, Jaro is friendly and cooperative. Due to incidents in his previous home, he is subject to muzzle and leash requirements. He wears the muzzle very naturally and without stress. For Jaro, we wish for a home with people who can offer him security, clear orientation, and a fair treatment. With the right guidance, Jaro will become a loyal, cuddly companion who gives his people plenty of closeness and joy with his friendly nature.

About Jaro

What life with Jaro looks like

Jaro is a large adult rottweiler dog waiting at Kreistierheim Böblingen in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kreistierheim Böblingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kreistierheim Böblingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kreistierheim Böblingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
