Adopt Rover

Rottweiler · Male

Rover ID No.: 1042408 Breed: Rottweiler-mixed breed Age: approx. 12/2019 Gender: male Shoulder height: approx. 64 cm Neutered: Yes Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry form Rover – A strong-willed, magnificent fellow seeking confident leadership Rover (*approx. 12/2019) is a sturdy and powerful male dog who needs a clear, consistent counterpart. Rover is not a fearful dog; rather, he requires firm structure and strong, consistent guidance to feel secure and comfortable. Rover is a dog who needs time to get to know people. Initially, he isn’t immediately approachable by everyone, but once he has built trust, he opens up and forms very close bonds with his trusted people. Our long-term volunteers describe him as one of the most pleasant and obedient walking companions. He listens exceptionally well, takes direction seriously, and—despite his strength—walks very nicely on leash. Rover is a dog with personality who tends to take matters into his own paws if placed in the wrong hands. Rover displays demanding behavior around food. It is therefore essential that his new humans take resource management (especially during feeding) absolutely seriously and establish clear rules. Rover doesn’t need someone who pities him, but people who can guide him confidently. He strongly looks to his humans for direction—as long as they lovingly set boundaries and are reliably present for him as he needs. Without this structure, he will make his own decisions. In his previous life, he had little contact with fellow animals, so he will be rehomed as a single dog. During on-leash encounters with other dogs, he needs a confident handler, as he reacts noticeably to overly pushy dogs. We are looking for responsible individuals with solid dog experience for Rover. He is not suitable for beginners or for a hectic family household with children. Ideally, he would go to a quiet home, preferably in a rural setting. He seeks someone who appreciates his loyal nature yet possesses the mental strength to set clear boundaries in daily life. Anyone who provides Rover with the necessary structure will gain an incredibly loyal, obedient, and magnificent companion who will stand by their side through thick and thin. Rover is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and holds an EU pet passport. For travel arrangements, he has been tested for Mediterranean diseases and has been dewormed and treated for fleas. About Rover

What life with Rover looks like

Rover is a adult rottweiler dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rover, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rover?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rover on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rover if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rover already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rover isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rover and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
