Jasmo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Jasmo is a male dog estimated to be born around January 2025 and approximately 50-59 cm tall with an estimated weight of 25-29 kg. He has been at the shelter since June 2026. Jasmo comes from a killing station in Romania. We explain how dogs end up there and more in our animal welfare FAQ . This dog is still new to the shelter. So far, Jasmo appears uncertain in his new surroundings and needs time to get used to unfamiliar situations. Once he has gained some confidence, he shows his curious side: He begins to explore cautiously, sniffs a lot and takes his environment noticeably. In doing so, he also orients himself towards calm fellow dogs and seeks rather gentle, unobtrusive contacts. Our caregivers take the time to get to know each dog and assess it. If we learn more about this dog's character, we will supplement this profile. Of course, you can still fill out a self-disclosure for this dog. Jasmo has a docked tail. Many dogs in Romania have their tails cut off to make the animals look more dangerous. A patient, experienced home is important for Jasmo, which gives him security and lets him arrive at his own pace. With calmness, understanding and clear guidance, he will be able to gain confidence step by step. We are looking for people who know that animal shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict in the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we look for people who have patience, perseverance and goodwill. But one thing is sure: Whoever adopts instead of buys not only gives an animal a second chance, but actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already in love? Send us your self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-free and neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than one year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please write a message to our placement team.

About Jasmo

What life with Jasmo looks like

Jasmo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jasmo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jasmo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jasmo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jasmo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jasmo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jasmo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jasmo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
