Hello, my name is Jasper (AKA Jasperoo), I am a 16 year old African Grey with lots of beautiful feathers. I am a very lively boy with lots to say! I'm not a fan of change, but my favourite things are my swing and my bell! History/Background Jasper has come back into the charity through no fault of his own and is settling nicely into his safehouse. In his previous home, he spent the best part of the day sat on his dads armchair when mum wasn't around, so he is very used to having regular company. Personality/Behaviour Jasper is a very chatty boy, with a big personality and an even bigger vocabulary. He does occasionally use some naughty words, and he can get very passionate about football. He will spend most of the day on his swing or throwing his bell around to create as much noise asa possible. When he is out of the cage, he likes to explore on his own terms and has a history of flying around. In his previous home, Jasper was a big part of the family, and would even follow family members upstairs for a Friday night make up session with friends. He has previously been showered every other day, and has been known to take a bath in his water bowl! However if you offer him a seperate bowl, he will throw this around and turn his cage into a swimming pool! Jasper will tolerate other birds and will quite happily chat to his other safehouse birds, but NOT when they land on his cage. Due to this he would be best as a solo bird, where he can get your full attention! Training Jasper is very much a hands off bird and does not step up, even onto a perch. However he is a big fan of nuts (especially walnuts) and is more than happy to take food from anyone. Jasper can be quite shy at first, and may take time to trust a new person, however once he gets to know you he will tolerate a lot more. He has been introduced to clicker training in his safehouse, and this would be a fantastic thing to continue in his forever home. Diet Jasper is currently eating Tidymix, and daily vegetables/fruit in the morning. (He is a bit of a princess and likes his vegetables slightly cooked to soften!) He loves all kinds of nuts and has also tried Zupreem fruit blend and seems to be a big fan. He isn't the bravest when it comes to trying new food and has been known to avoid his bowl if there is something in there he is unsure about, however he is usually straight there for his dinner. Enrichment Jasper has several toys in his cage which he occasionally plays with, however his all time favourite is cardboard boxes and old newspapers at the bottom of his cage! He loves to make a big mess destroying them and especially loves when you hide a nut or two inside for him to find! Summary ‘I am a wonderful bird, who can offer lots of fun, brilliant company and even more noise to your life, and I'm sure I could make someone the luckiest person ever!'
