That’s exactly why we need to slow things down and find the right home, not just any home. Jasper does come with behavioural quirks that future adopters need to fully understand. He has a suspected compulsive disorder, which can show up as repetitive behaviours, difficulty switching off, and needing very consistent routines to feel safe. Dogs like Jasper often find change overwhelming, so calm, predictable days are essential for him to thrive. He also shows food and toy guarding behaviours. This means he needs: Clear boundaries around food and high value items A home where nothing is taken from him unexpectedly Someone experienced or willing to work alongside behaviour professionals Plenty of management rather than confrontation With the right setup, these behaviours can be managed safely, but they do mean Jasper isn’t suitable for a busy or unpredictable household. Jasper cannot live with children or other pets, and while he could live with another calm, confident dog, he is happiest in a quiet home with few or no visitors, as new people can be very scary for him. His perfect home would likely be a single adult woman, living a peaceful lifestyle, happy to prioritise Jasper’s world over social gatherings. Jasper isn’t the kind of dog who’ll join you for a coffee at a café he’s much more of a safe sofa, trusted person, gentle routine kind of boy.
