Jasper

Male · Adult · 7 years

Jasper is a small, cheerful and energetic puppy who is very hard to cope with being in the animal shelter. He is an emotional and sensitive dog who is easily affected by changes. The first weeks were very difficult for him, and we also see that further changes in his kennel or neighbors around him are not helpful and he takes a long time to adapt to these changes. That's why we really want him to finally find a home and have the certainty of tomorrow, which is so important for him. Jasper has become known as a curious puppy who must keep an eye on everything happening around. He most enjoys monitoring from his kennel or accompanies caregivers and volunteers during inspections on the yard - he follows us, helps when changing blankets in other dogs' kennels, and accompanies the caregiver during feeding. A helper dog. He also gladly greets visitors who come to the yard to meet other dogs - no one comes to Jaspr... However, everything indicates that Jasper never had a real home. He is very afraid of the leash, so he usually goes out to the yard with other dogs or we go for a walk in the park outside the animal shelter. He behaves perfectly and really enjoys these short walks. Sometimes he gets scared by something, like a barking dog, and then runs to his kennel - "to the base" and returns to us shortly after. Jasper also doesn't like touch - probably nobody has petted him before and he simply doesn't know that it can be pleasant - just in case he steps back, but familiar people can gently pat his cheerful nose. For these reasons, we are mainly looking for someone who has already had more than one dog in their life and understands that every dog is different, has different experiences and resulting needs. Someone who cares about the dog's well-being and understands how important space and freedom are. Jasper needs a house with a garden, so he can get used to a new life and all the difficult things a dog must learn, such as entering rooms, jumping on the couch when the owners are not around, getting into a car. Here at the animal shelter, Jasperek won't go far, and above all, he won't experience what is most important for him - the peace and friendship of a person who will spend time and attention on him. If you are considering adopting a dog in great need and you have the conditions, please respond. Jasper has been waiting for you since March 2020... Taki piesek-pomocnik. About Jasper

What life with Jasper looks like

Jasper is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fearful of leash, sensitive to touch, needs patient owner and garden space for adaptation

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jasper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jasper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jasper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jasper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jasper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jasper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jasper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
