Adopt Jaspis

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Jaspis, a dog born in February 2021. Jaspis is quite a shy and quiet dog. When he arrived with us, he was a bit lost and didn't know what to expect from us. He wasn't too happy to see a human and was quite cautious. We also weren't sure what to expect from him, so we gave him as much space as he needed until he got used to his new place. It seems that the worst is behind him because Jaspis is in a slightly better mood and seems to have opened up to new acquaintances. Over time, it turned out that Jaspis also does very well on a leash and quite well finds his place in the company of a pack of dogs. There is still a bit of shyness and uncertainty in him, but there has been progress. However, he still doesn't push himself on others and is completely quiet, not even barking. He maintains a neutral attitude towards humans, allowing himself to be petted, although he doesn't seek a closer contact. This may still change with time as he feels more at ease. We would like Jaspis to find a permanent home with a beloved owner by his side. We wish for him to experience being loved and having a warm corner for himself. We invite you to meet the dog in person. Jaspis is neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated, and spayed.

Jaspis, pies urodzony w lutym 2021r. Jaspis to dosyć skryty i cichy pies.

About Jaspis

What life with Jaspis looks like

Jaspis is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jaspis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jaspis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jaspis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jaspis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jaspis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jaspis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jaspis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
