Jax (Jack)

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

Jax is a joyful young boy of around 6 months old, and he has already made himself very popular with the volunteers. He is friendly, funny, affectionate and full of character. Jax has that lovely mix of being bright and smart, but also a complete little goofball who makes everyone smile. He loves to play, enjoys attention, and is always ready to hand out plenty of puppy kisses. Jax is the sort of puppy who brings happiness wherever he goes. He has a fun, loving nature and will make a wonderful companion for a family who are ready to give him the time, training and guidance every young dog needs. He is still only a baby, so he will need help with all the usual puppy basics, including settling into home life, house training, lead walking, socialisation and learning what is expected of him. In return, his new family will get a loving, playful and very entertaining young dog who has so much potential. Jax is likely to grow to around medium size, approx 14–18kgs, so we expect him to be a lovely medium-sized boy once fully grown. From one of his carers.“Jax is amazing. 🤩 he was calm, easygoing and loves napping! He wasn’t bothered by noise except when it disturbed his nap. 😂 He’s affectionate and happy, always wagging his tail. He loves people and cuddles. He’s great on the leash. He’s confident, clever and obedient. We stayed at my home and community then went to beach in Ferragudo. Saw lots of people but no dogs or cats. Don’t think dogs were allowed when we went. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Didn’t see any so we walked the dunes. He was happy checking out the beach from afar. Would be nice for him to go back early in the morning. He was a bit nervous at first in the car and when we got to crowded beach parking lot. He’s smart so it can stop with practice.” Jax will arrive fully vaccinated and with comprehensive health checks, including a Uranotest Quattro, which tests for Leishmania infantum, Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma and the Dirofilaria immitis antigen. He will also have a test for Canine Brucellosis and his own Portuguese passport. Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775

About Jax (Jack)

What life with Jax (Jack) looks like

Jax (Jack) is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs N Homes Rescue in London.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jax (Jack), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jax (Jack)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs N Homes Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jax (Jack) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jax (Jack) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs N Homes Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jax (Jack) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jax (Jack) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs N Homes Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jax (Jack) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
