Jeanne

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 2 years

Jeanne is a sweet but very outgoing lady. She always has something to say and loves to share her thoughts with her cozy chatter. Jeanne sometimes needs some time to adjust to a new environment. But give her the chance to settle in and you'll get a great housemate in return! Once she feels comfortable, Jeanne is playful, affectionate, and a beautiful sight to behold. In short, a lady with charm and character. There is one important thing to note: Jeanne has sensitive intestines and does best on Hill's Gastrointestinal Biome. This food is not a luxury for her, but essential to keep her tummy calm and happy. Jeanne is used to going outside daily to enjoy the sunshine and take a little walk. A home where she can continue this habit would bring her a lot of joy. We don't expect any problems with small children, as long as Jeanne is given time to adjust to her new environment and family. Who will fall for this beautiful chatty cat and give Jeanne the time to discover her new home at her own pace?

NL·Show original

About Jeanne

What life with Jeanne looks like

Jeanne is a small young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Dierenbescherming Mechelen in Mechelen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jeanne, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jeanne?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenbescherming Mechelen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jeanne on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jeanne if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenbescherming Mechelen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jeanne already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jeanne isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenbescherming Mechelen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jeanne and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
