Jeik lives on a foster home in Patras / Greece VIDEOS AVAILABLE !!! male dog/kastriert born ca. May 2023 Size: ca. 58 cm Update 27.10.2025: Jeik longs so much for his own family. Update 27.10.2025 Our colleagues report on Jeik: Jeik is a beautiful, medium-sized male dog who has now reached a size of about 58 cm. He currently lives in an animal shelter, where he is growing up in a quiet, nature-near environment and continues to develop. Compared to last year, Jeik has already made progress in his social development: He is now much more open and curious towards people, but still shows a certain reserve, especially in new situations or with strangers. This caution is understandable and shows that he will feel safe when he has time and peace to settle in. Jeik is compatible with other dogs. He lives together with two active female dogs in the shelter and gets along well with his fellow animals. In the right, loving, and patient hands – ideally with people who already have experience with dogs – Jeik could become a wonderful companion. Jeik is a sensitive dog who can unfold his full potential with the right support and patience. For someone who is ready to give him time and understanding, he would certainly be a true treasure – a faithful companion for walks, shared adventures, and many loving moments. Update 14.10.2024: Our colleagues report on Jeik: Jeik is a beautiful male dog, at first he was a bit cautious but very friendly towards us. He has already lived for some time in the animal shelter, where he unfortunately receives too few external stimuli. For him, loving people would be great who would show him everything he missed with patience and give him security. He is a gentle, rather quiet representative of his kind, but also has a bit of a guard dog gene. His new family should therefore be aware of the special needs of guard dog breeds and ideally already have experience. These dogs bring many great qualities with them, they are very loyal and faithful companions despite their thick skulls, if they are handled appropriately. WHAT HAS HAPPENED UNTIL NOW:Jeik was rescued by Maria from a chicken farm. Jeik’s owner found the little guy at the Unikrankenhaus, took him along, and brought him to his farm to watch the chickens. The man kept asking Maria for deworming medication and called her after two weeks to tell her that he would release Jeik back at the Unikrankenhaus because the puppy had destroyed the chicken eggs. Maria asked the man for more time so she could find a foster home. Fortunately, Maria was able to rescue the puppy from his owner before he could release the sweet puppy again. Now he lives on a foster home where he gets along with everyone. On his owner’s farm, Jeik also lived peacefully with another dog, chickens, and cats. Maria thinks that Jeik will be a big dog when he grows up. Of course, this puppy also needs to be raised with a lot of love and consistency in his new home. Upon his arrival at the end of October, Jeik is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and has an EU pet passport in his luggage.

About Jeik

What life with Jeik looks like

Jeik is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde Patras e.V. in Ratingen.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jeik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jeik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde Patras e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jeik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jeik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde Patras e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jeik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jeik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde Patras e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jeik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
