Adopt Jenny Gnadenplatz

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

Our little Jenny has only been with us for a short time. She is a small, slightly mopsey female dog who needs some time to warm up to strangers. Jenny is still reserved, but every now and then, the Jenny that will become really playful and joyful with the right people shines through. Then she is actually very witty and mischievous, and she enjoys the attention. Shortly after, she remembers that people are rather scary. If she knows someone a little better, she is incredibly cute and really enjoys cuddles. Our sensitive little one needs calm, confident people who give her time, support her, and allow her to come to terms with her surroundings while still showing her that there is no reason to be worried and that she is well taken care of here. Walks still work best with a dog friend by her side, but she still finds them a bit of a chore when she is on her own. But she is making daily progress, and with a little human help, it will all work out. The little, adorable mouse wouldn’t mind trading her cage for a warm spot on the couch in the near future. In a dog-experienced, loving environment, she would be much more comfortable! Children would overwhelm Jenny, so we are looking for a quiet, childless home for her. Whether she knows or likes cats, we unfortunately cannot test. Since Jenny has occasionally hobbled, we have had her X-rayed, and unfortunately, the news were not good! Jenny has a bilateral patella luxation that needs to be operated on step by step. We cannot do this while she is in the cage. We urgently need a loving, responsible foster home (or of course, an end placement) that can handle the post-op care and has the time to do so. The costs will of course be covered by the organization, and we will be available for any questions and, in case of problems like a trip to the clinic, to assist. Who is Jenny’s Christmas miracle, trading her pain for a promising future? If you would like to meet the little Jenny or have any questions about what lies ahead for her, you can certainly do so after discussing it with her case worker. In Jenny’s case, the distance to us in Essen and to the Kaiserberg Clinic should not be too great, and enough time should be planned for getting to know each other.

About Jenny Gnadenplatz

What life with Jenny Gnadenplatz looks like

Jenny Gnadenplatz is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt in Essen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jenny Gnadenplatz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jenny Gnadenplatz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jenny Gnadenplatz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jenny Gnadenplatz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jenny Gnadenplatz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jenny Gnadenplatz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jenny Gnadenplatz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
