Adopt Pakuna * Paten gesucht *

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 13 years

We took Pakuna from a Romanian animal shelter. We can't say much about her past. She probably spent some time on the streets before that. In the last months, she had already given up in the animal shelter. This touched our hearts, and we brought her to Germany. At first, she was somewhat suspicious of unfamiliar dogs. But once she got to know them and accepted them, they live together without any problems. Pakuna chooses her friends based on sympathy. Once she accepts a doggy buddy, she plays with him right away. The foster home practices dog interactions regularly, and it's going very well. Of course, her new owner must continue and solidify the training. Pakuna loves long nature walks. She also enjoys chilling on the couch. At first, Panuka is still somewhat mistrustful of strangers. But once her heart is won, she doesn't leave your side. We are looking for dog-experienced owners who are willing to give Pakuna the time she needs and lots of training. A visit to dog training classes should definitely be planned. Pakuna has so deserved to find a permanent home where she is accepted as she is and where people are not afraid to continue training her. Pakuna is house-trained, travels well in the car, and loves cuddling. She is very quiet in the house and can stay alone for several hours. Ideally, Pakuna would be placed with a single person or childless couple who also live in a rural area. The city stresses her. Pakuna is beautiful, megaverschmust, and a real dirtball. She loves forest and meadow agility, long walks, and basic obedience can also be shown. We are looking for consistent people who are willing to take the time to get to know her. Pakuna has made such progress with her foster parent - now it's time for her to join her final family. They can meet Pakuna in our foster home.

About Pakuna * Paten gesucht *

What life with Pakuna * Paten gesucht * looks like

Pakuna * Paten gesucht * is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt in Essen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pakuna * Paten gesucht *, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pakuna * Paten gesucht *?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pakuna * Paten gesucht * on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pakuna * Paten gesucht * if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pakuna * Paten gesucht * already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pakuna * Paten gesucht * isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 4animals e.V. — Hundeauffangstation HASt early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pakuna * Paten gesucht * and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
