Jeremiah The Sausage

Male · Young · 2 years

Meet Jeremiah The Sausage! Sweet Jeremiah has a lovely history of being calm, affectionate and playful with his previous owner and was happy to meet new people and make friends in and out of the home, once he'd let them know he was there with a few barks. Jeremiah was previously attacked by a larger dog when he was about a year old, and this had an effect on his confidence, leaving him worried when seeing other dogs and reacting at them if they approached, however, he has been making great progress in his confidence day by day. Though as a result of this incident, little Jeremiah can sometimes be conflicted and vocal when meeting dogs and will need confident owners that are able to follow our advice around training in this area. Jeremiah has had extensive muzzle training, which he has responded very well to, and is a useful tool for the handler when taking him on walks when meeting new dogs. Throughout his training, he has been able to make new canine friends and has been unmuzzled during his socials. He is therefore looking for owners who are willing to continue working on his confidence and follow the training which works for him. We would encourage whilst he is settling in and making new human bonds, to wear the muzzle when he is meeting dogs, and when he is familiar with them and good friends, he may then be able to have unmuzzled socials. He has shown a great improvement with his training and we are so very proud of the growth during this journey. Here at Battersea we have seen the same sweet, affectionate and playful boy who likes to make himself heard. He loves to snuggle with his favourite people and play fetch till his little legs are energetic, and has been making new friends on every walk. During his stay with Jeremiah has shown to be vocal out & about and can find busy areas very stressful, and will need a quiet location where he isnt overwhelmed by too many dogs or people on his walks, so that owners can continue his training & confidence building with minimal distractions. Jeremiah would be best suited with new owners who have some experience of caring for a Dachshund and are fully aware of their strong character traits and behaviours that may need managing. He will need owners that are at home most of the time initially and a secure garden for training. Jeremiah will need to be the only dog in the household but may be able to live with sensible older teens that can contribute to his training, If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Jeremiah The Sausage, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Jeremiah The Sausage

What life with Jeremiah The Sausage looks like

Jeremiah The Sausage is a small young adult dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jeremiah The Sausage, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jeremiah The Sausage?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jeremiah The Sausage on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jeremiah The Sausage if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jeremiah The Sausage already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jeremiah The Sausage isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jeremiah The Sausage and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
