adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The cute Jerry with the pretty beige fur and black snout is still searching for his forever home… Infested with worms, fleas, and parasites, undernourished, with still bleeding, cropped ears, trembling in fear. That's how our Jerry was found. A wretched heap. Our animal welfare workers on site felt the deepest compassion, for his sight was a horror. We do not know whose cruel hands inflicted this suffering on a puppy just five months old. But we do know… his future will be good! Jerry is now approximately 2 years old, 50 cm tall, and weighs 15 kg, and still desperately needs a home. Jerry shows himself to be a very active, friendly, playful male dog, who, despite his circumstances, is well-disposed towards humans. Jerry lived the first months in a Romanian foster home and is now back in the enclosure after a short time. Jerry lives with four other dogs in a yard with an outdoor enclosure. He has therefore not known life in a house and has not yet learned much. Unfortunately, he also cannot stay permanently in the foster home. Therefore, he is searching for a family of his own, in which he can finally belong. He is a playful and active male dog, gets along well with the other dogs, and also walks quite well on a leash. Jerry likes to be stroked and cuddled. We are looking for people who don't expect anything from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still young and is looking forward to learning the dog ABCs, taking beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also attending dog training classes. Since Jerry is still a bit insecure in new situations, we wish him a quiet and more rural home without small children. But with a secure only dog, Jerry can orient himself. The handsome Jerry is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport, but his cropped ears prevent him from entering Switzerland. Jerry is searching for his happiness – perhaps with you? Who will fall in love with Jerry and let him leave the enclosure soon? Many thanks to Sidney R.! You gave Jerry his name and thus an identity! Many thanks to Claudia K.! You support Jerry with a monthly sponsorship! As of: 06.05.

Vielen Dank Claudia K.! Du unterstützt Jerry mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! About Jerry

What life with Jerry looks like

Jerry is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jerry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jerry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jerry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jerry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jerry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jerry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jerry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
